Database duties include but are not limited to: performance tuning, database backup and recovery, maintenance of database replication, planning and support for database and software releases and updates, analysis of the impact of updates, data upkeep and validation, writing and execution of scripts to facilitate input and output of data, writing and execution of queries on the database, server maintenance and product support in a fast-paced environment. Individual should have strong SQL skills, to include experience in creating and/or troubleshooting triggers and stored procedures, and experience supporting SQL-based production databases in a Windows Server environment. The DBA will engage in limited system administration responsibilities to include ensuring that appropriate firewall exceptions are in place to facilitate communication between the remote and consolidated databases and that coordination occur with Information management personnel for the application of IAVAs and other patches to the AWRDS server(s).
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree and three years of specialized experience is required, or a Associates degree and seven years of specialized experience or a high school diploma and eleven years of specialized experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience managing SQL-based databases.
Expert with Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere or equivalent (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc)
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access).
Expert in Internet Information Services.
Expert knowledge of PC hardware architecture.
Security + certified (or other certification meeting DoD8500.2 requirements) and a second computing environment certification.
Knowledge of US Army STAMIS and Army Logistics/Maintenance systems such as PBUSE, GCSS-A, MICAS, SAAS, LMP, SARSS, MMIS, ULLS, SAMS and AWRDS.
Strong understanding of US Army Supply and Maintenance policies and procedures.
Expert knowledge of wholesale and retail supply system to include equipment stratification, current Army equipment, Brigade level readiness reporting, DA 2406 Material Condition Status Report, Maintenance Management Data File (MMDF).
Ability to perform scanning and database plan management input.
Ability to work independently in an autonomous environment.
Ability to plan and prioritize work.
Ability to train users in AWRDS
Ability to develop and deliver briefings as required.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in harmony with others.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Lean and Six Sigma experience.
Additional Requirements: US Citizenship. International and US driver’s license. Medically fit for OCONUS long term deployment and be Drug Free. SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET interim.
Certain operations may require the individual to lift and move computer and other equipment of approximately 50 lbs in weight, as well as being able to push a wheeled dolly with multiple computer systems loaded. The individual must be able to perform duties in extreme weather (dusty, arid, high and low temperature). Travel may also be required to support contingency military operations in remote/austere physical environments. Position may require bending, kneeling, or crawling to get to cables under and behind furniture. Additionally, the position will call for the employee to climb onto military equipment and or vehicles to engage in data validation.
The individual is required to be in good health and be able to pass medical examinations as dictated by the U.S. Army.
Work environment is typically indoors in an office environment. However, some outdoor work may be required in austere conditions (dusty, extreme heat or cold). Certain operations may require 24 hour support. Accordingly, individuals may be assigned to work during non-routine shifts, and long hours and other duties as required.
